Governor of Puerto Rico appoints administrator to the Purchasing and Supplies Division of PREPA
(October 30, 2017 – La Fortaleza, San Juan) Governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, appointed Ottmar J. Chávez today as the administrator to the Purchasing and Supplies Division of the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA).
Chávez works as the director of Procurement Strategy at the Puerto Rico Fiscal Agency and Financial Advisory Authority (FAFAA) since mid-September.
As part of the implementation policies of the fiscal plan, Chávez has taken the task of structuring the reform and processes related to public procurement at all levels of the Government of Puerto Rico.
Prior to his work at FAFAA, the designee worked as a senior program manager with Medtronic in Puerto Rico.
In that space, he led all the initiatives related to the improvement of procurement policies, supplier management, cost reductions, and contract management, achieving substantial savings for the organization.
He also served as purchasing manager at Eaton Corporation, a multinational power management company founded in the United States, which provides solutions to its customers to manage electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical power efficiently, safely, and sustainably.
Chávez holds a Master's degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Project and Acquisitions Management from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. In addition, he completed a Bachelor's degree in International Business at Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts.
