Please find attached the authorized statement of the Governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, regarding the lawsuit of the Financial Oversight and Management Board.

Authorized statement of Governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló:
(August 28, 2017 – La Fortaleza, San Juan) “Our administration has been clear: a furlough for public employees is unnecessary. The Government of Puerto Rico has met the necessary savings as certified by the Financial Oversight and Management Board (FOMB), has begun the implementation of the necessary reforms, and is driven to comply with the requirements of the Fiscal Plan that was certified by the federal Board itself. Moreover, the proposed furlough would have an adverse effect on the economy of the Island, which would represent a contradiction to the common objective of the Board and the Government: to facilitate the economic development of Puerto Rico.
The Financial Oversight and Management Board (FOMB) turned today to the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico to validate the measures that are trying to be unilaterally to the certified Fiscal Plan. Nonetheless, Section 205 of the PROMESA Act grants discretion to the Government of Puerto Rico on refusing to adopt inappropriate recommendations of the Board imposed by the Congress of the United States.
We understand that the FOMB and the Government of Puerto Rico have their differences on this matter, but I trust that the court will solve this controversy, pursuant to the right and to the benefit of the people of Puerto Rico. Meanwhile, our administration will continue working with the implementation of measures that facilitate the economic recovery of the Island, and achieve the necessary savings as well as more efficiency in government operations.”
