Governor Rosselló encourages the Financial Oversight and Management Board to reflect on the impact of the certified Fiscal Plan

(April 19, 2018 - La Fortaleza, San Juan) Governor of Puerto Rico Ricardo Rosselló called today for the Financial Oversight and Management Board (FOMB) to reflect on the Fiscal Plan that they certified, which considers matters of public policy that the federal entity does not have the power to execute.

HUD AWARDS RECORD $18.5 BILLION FOR PUERTO RICO HURRICANE RECOVERY Disaster recovery funds to help repair damaged homes, businesses and electric grid

SAN JUAN, PR – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) today awarded a record $18.5 billion to support long-term disaster recovery in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria. HUD’s Deputy Secretary Pamela Hughes Patenaude announced the disaster recovery grants with Governor Ricardo Rosselló and Congresswoman Jenniffer González-Colón.

Governor Rosselló urges Congressman Bishop to take all parties into consideration during his evaluation of the results of the federal PROMESA Act

(April 2, 2018- La Fortaleza, San Juan) The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, addressed today a letter to Rob Bishop (R-Utah) in which he urges the congressman to adopt a balanced approach that considers all stakeholders in Puerto Rico and not just the concerns of the bondholders.

The letter sent to the also chairman of the US House Committee on Natural Resources—Congress body that addresses the issues of Puerto Rico and the territories—arises in response to a letter that Congressman Bishop sent last week to the Financial Oversight and Management Board (FOMB).

Governor Rosselló receives the new chief executive officer of the DMO at La Fortaleza

(March 14, 2018 – La Fortaleza, San Juan) Governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, congratulated the Board of Directors of the Puerto Rico Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) for appointing Brad Dean as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the private non-profit corporation responsible for the promotion of the Island as a tourist destination abroad.

The chairman of the DMO Board of Directors, Jon Borschow, announced the appointment today and informed that Dean will begin his duties at the end of April.

Governor Rosselló announces agreement to grant a federal credit to employers affected by hurricanes Irma and Maria

(February 14, 2018 – La Fortaleza, San Juan) The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, announced an agreement in principle with the United States Department of Treasury which will allow employers that were not able to operate their businesses —after hurricanes Irma and Maria— to claim a credit of up to $2,400 for each employee that was paid a salary during said period.

Governor Rosselló welcomes Congressional Emergency Disaster Relief Funding

(7 de febrero de 2018 – La Fortaleza, San Juan) The Governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, expressed gratitude at the news that the leadership of the United States House and Senate have reached an agreement on much needed federal disaster relief aid for Puerto Rico.

The emergency supplemental funding introduced today is expected to be voted on and approved tomorrow as part of the broader budget and appropriations legislative package.

Governor Rosselló appoints members to the Board of Trustees of the GDB Debt Recovery Authority

(February 6, 2018 – La Fortaleza, San Juan) The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, announced the appointment of the three members of the Board of Trustees of the Government Development Bank for Puerto Rico Debt Recovery Authority, created under Act 109-2017, known as the Government Development Bank for Puerto Rico Debt Restructuring Act.

The trustees appointed by the governor are David Pauker, Jorge L. Padilla, and Matthew Karp.

Governor Rosselló presents an education reform centered on the student

(February 5, 2018 – La Fortaleza, San Juan) The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, announced today the presentation of the Education Reform, which consists of a system focused on the student, and which promotes successful models of education.

“In Puerto Rico we have students and teachers with extraordinary talent, intelligence, and creative capabilities. What we are lacking is a system that allows them to develop those talents and skills to their maximum potential. This is an urgent mission,” expressed the governor.
